One problem that I consistently hear women with natural hair struggle with is dry scalp. I too suffer from dry scalp, so I understand the struggle. I partnered with Wonder Curl to review their new Clarifying Charcoal Shampoo bar. One of the reasons I was excited to review this product is because of the activated charcoal ingredient. One of the many benefits of activated charcoal is combatting dandruff and psoriasis. To learn more about the benefits of using activated charcoal check out these articles on naturallivingideas.com and draxe.com.
Wonder Curl was created by Scarlett Rocourt out of the frustration of having to use four to five different hair hair products that only gave her temporary smooth definition. Scarlett set out to make the “perfect hair gel” that would provide smooth definition to curls of all textures. Wonder Curls Mission statement is “We strive to make the world a better place by giving our customers great hair days, every day! Wonder Curl empowers anyone with curly hair to wear their hair in its natural state with confidence.”
About the Clarifying Charcoal Shampoo Bar
The Clarifying Charcoal shampoo bar is a handmade shampoo bar made with activated charcoal to clarify your hair and scalp, for a squeaky clean without your hair feeling stripped. The ingredients include Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Distilled Water, Sustainable Palm Oil, Sodium Hydroxide, Shea Butter, Activated Charcoal, Essential Oils.
- When preparing to wash my hair I always part my hair into four sections.
2. I take each section and rinse it with water. After the section is wet, I use the shampoo bar in a circular motion on my scalp. I began on the edges of my hair, then I part smaller sections within the larger section. Lastly I lather the soap with my hands, and rub the soap onto my actual hair.
3. Once I am finished shampooing the section of my hair I rinse out the soap. Normally I would then apply a leave in conditioner and began the detangling process, but for review purposes I did not show this step in the video.
The video included in this post is sponsored by Wondercurl, but all thoughts and opinions are that of my own. I initially had reservations about how well the shampoo bar would work with my hair because it was not in the form of liquid. Once I began to use the bar in a circular motion just as you would to lather onto your body, it was surprisingly very easy to use. Using the bar helped me to really focus on my scalp, which I sometimes fall short of when using liquid soap. The bar was smooth to touch, and did not crumble into pieces while I was using it which is an issue I have had when using my African soap bar. Overall, I liked the Clarifying Charcoal shampoo bar and the results of how clean my hair was after using it. Since the bar I was given was only a tester size, I used most of it and there was not enough left for me to do another round of washing my hair. Once I purchase a full size bar I will use it a few more times to see if it improves the overall dryness of my scalp.
